Key responsibilities

As a Transport Manager your main responsibility is to ensure -with your team- a smoothly planning and execution of daily shipments by arranging contracts and kpi´s with (international) carriers. As a Transport Manager your role is to optimize the planning process and to motivate your team to be pro-active towards our customers as well as in the internal organisation.

• Arrange contracts with (international) carriers including kpi´s, payment terms, security issues, etc.
• Monthly follow-up on kpi´s and corrective actions with the carriers.
• Delivering on time the correct data to the invoicing department.
• Works closely with operations, customers, trucking companies, and customer service to ensure shipments and inbound containers to the customer’s satisfaction.
• Supervising and motivating a team of Transport Coordinators including the team of Inbound Planning.
• Member of the Management Team and first point of contact in case of absence of the site manager.
• Participation in the implementation of new customers.
• Exercise “constant care” at all time and be committed to MAERSK qualities and safety concept.
• Maintains a positive relationship while working closely with the staff to build a formidable team through coaching, goal setting, and constructive feedback
• Researches and recommends best practices that can be followed
• Secure use of uniform, establishment and respect of operational procedures
Perform data analyst specialist role to address gap and improvement areas
• Performing other tasks defined by the site manager
• Work closely with other teams for knowledge sharing, monitor KPIs’, improve reporting within the organization and move towards standardization of process

We are looking for

• Technical Skills: Maersk application can be a plus (SAP – ERP,) and Microsoft Package literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point) is a perquisite
• Relevant experience: At least 3 years experiences in managing and leading a customer services team or transport coordination team.
• Business Skills: International Shipping, transportation Planning, Customer Service, Communication, Sales and Leadership skills. Excellent communications skills - Ensure high level of communication with key stakeholders and internal team members
• Strong process oriented approach to work and excellent attention to detail.
• Resilient team player who is goal-orientated and demonstrates a high level of commitment with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
• True identification with the customer is a must and aiming to create a better customer experience is essential. It is not about being perfect at the end, but becoming better each day.
• Excellent written and verbal skills with people at all levels across the organisation in English and German.
